Signed and Numbered Fine Art B&W Photographs:

Jim had the rare privilege of meeting, conversing with, and photographing Alfred Eisenstadt, one of the 20th century’s foremost photographers. He asked Eisenstadt to raise his iconic Leica M3 to his eye, as if taking a photo, and then turned the tables to capture the maestro himself. This remarkable portrait is the first photograph in the set.

The second image is a close-up of Eisenstadt’s legendary Leica M3, serial # M3E-1. Both photographs, never before made available, will be beautifully printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art baryta paper.

Foreword by Tom Gramegna:

Jim Lager’s Leica Illustrated History books are a celebration of an unprecedented photographic equipment legacy. How fitting that these long sold out and sought after books are being reprinted in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary of Leica’s first production camera and the 50th Anniversary of Jim’s very first Leica book! Jim’s work is a journey through Leica’s camera and equipment evolution, breakthroughs, and landmark innovations from its humble 1913 Ur-Leica beginnings through the 1990’s…The ultimate Leica collector’s collection is made real within these pages and can only be possessed in these volumes and nowhere else in the world!

It has been a both a pleasure and honor to work alongside Jim in reissuing these invaluable books for both longtime Leica devotees and a new generation of enthusiasts seeking the most comprehensive account of the brand’s storied products. His lifelong passion for Leica has made him one of the most respected historians and experts on the brand. Jim’s dedication to documenting the Leica legacy spans more than half a century, from his early research and writings in the Viewfinder magazine to the publication of his seminal works, Leica: An Illustrated History, Volumes I, II, and III. His meticulous approach to photographing and cataloging Leica cameras, lenses, and accessories has provided collectors, photographers, and enthusiasts with the comprehensive and priceless reference. More than just a historian, Jim is a true Leica Mensch—a man whose devotion to preserving the past ensures that future generations can appreciate the artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural significance of Leica’s commitment to photography.
